Chiropractor in Northfield Discusses Restless Leg Syndrom and Mg

Magnesium (Mg) is an essential dietary element that is very much deficient in our diets due to bad diet and lack of Mg in our depleted soil. It is no wonder that we find problems for

people with depleted Mg in their bodies.

Problems or symptoms of low Mg include bit are not limited to:

However, today’s focus is on Restless Leg Syndrome. I had a male patient who was sick and tired of being sick and tired. He had legs that just wouldn’t calm down when he was falling asleep, so his sleep was very much disturbed (his wife was having trouble because of it). He came to me with this problem, and after a thorough history it was determined that he may have a Mg deficiency.

He was a VERY skeptical patient (I secretly like having skeptical patients). It took 2 appointments and 3 other non-appointment visits for him to get convinced that this might help him. He stated that he had taken Magnesium Citrate for a procedure in the past, and it didn’t help him one bit (except that it “cleared him out”). I had to explain that Mg citrate is not very absorbable by our bodies. It helps relax muscles so it allows our bowel system to release. It is also grabs water from the bowel system causing bowl movements. It basically did what it was supposed to do.

I urged him to try a more absorbable version of Mg called Mg glycinate. He did finally try this. He is now free from Restless Leg Syndrome (there were a couple of times he stopped to see if it was truly working).

This was a great success and it proved that taking a good history on a patient can lead to very wonderful outcomes.
